ACI 318-19 Changes

The changes in Eriksson Beam when upgrading from ACI 318-14 to ACI 318-19 are as follows:

  • Strength Checks

    • Flexure Capacity

      • Mildly reinforced beams must now have 0.004 strain in the tension reinforcement.

      • Resistance factor changes when strand are still developing.

    • Shear Capacity

      • Changes to when minimum shear reinforcement is needed for mild members.

      • Minimum shear prestress capacity added.

      • New shear capacity for mildly reinforced members.

        • Now use the shape factor. This factor depends on if minimum shear reinforcement has been provided or not. When steel is not being defined in the software, it assumes that minimum was not provided. Then if minimum reinforcement is needed, it recomputes it assuming it is provided.

  • Service Checks

    • Deflections

      • New equation for effective moment of inertia

    • Stresses

  • Development Lengths

    • Changes to all development length equations for mild reinforcement.

  • Lightweight concrete factor

    • Instead of using the tabular values, the new equation is used.
